YCL gears up for general convention

KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Man Bahadur Thapa and Manmati Bista stood first in men´s and women´s category in a race competition organized by the Young Communist League (YCL), a sister organization of the UCPN(Maoist) Firday on the eve of its First National General Convention.



The race was organised this morning with an objective of publicizing the YCL´s first general convention going to be held from Saturday in Kathmandu, said YCL Coordinator, Ganeshman Pun.[break]



Both the winners were awarded with Rs. 10,000, each, he informed. The race was started from Tripureshwor-based Dasharath stadium and concluded by coming back to the stadium after reaching Kesharmahal.



Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, had inaugurated the competition.On the occasion, more than 1,000 youths including UCPN (Maoist) leader, Barshaman Pun and Lokendra Bistamagar were present.



Meanwhile, the YCL has completed all preparations for its first general convention to be inaugurated at Basantapur.



Around 2,000 representatives and observers from across the nation would participate in it, it is learnt.
