KATHMANDU, March 22: The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu organized a ceremony on Friday evening to celebrate the 60th Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day.
During the ceremony, Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba expressed gratitude for the numerous initiatives the Indian government has taken in the fields of development and education while recalling her personal experiences studying in India.
The Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, committed to further expanding the ITEC initiative and introducing more tailored programs aligned with the Nepalese government's priorities.
Attorney General Ramesh Badal, Assistant Coordinator of the National Security Council Secretariat, former ITEC student Assistant Rathie Pawan Khatri, and Armed Police Force Deputy Superintendent Dayaram Sharma shared their ITEC-related experiences.

The ceremony showcased an enthralling Mayurbhanj Chhau dance performance by the cultural group 'Yajna' from India, led by renowned artist Kuleshwar Kumar Thakur, with support from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Additionally, Nepal's famous Kant Dab Dab Band delivered an enchanting fusion of folk and jazz music.
Members of Parliament, senior government officials, former ITEC students, and Nepali alumni from Indian educational institutions attended the event.
ITEC, established in 1964, remains one of the oldest institutional frameworks for international capacity building, training over 200,000 officials from more than 160 countries.
In 2024-2025, 510 professionals from Nepal received training at various prestigious Indian institutions. The program included 18 customized courses for Nepali professionals at 10 major Indian institutions, benefiting 50 doctors, 30 government lawyers, 15 National Judicial Academy members, 143 Nepal Police officers, 80 Armed Police Force personnel, 24 Ministry of Home Affairs staff, and 40 Ministry of Water Supply officials.
Over the past 15 years, more than 3,000 officials from Nepal have participated in ITEC training programs.
