KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Koshi-flood victims staged a sit-in protest in front of the southern gate of Singhadurbar, the central government secretariat, for an hour starting 11:25 a.m. on Monday.
Two Constituent Assembly (CA) members -- Sabita Devi Yadav and Nandan Kumar Dutta -- also joined the protests. A 15-member delegation of the victims from Sunsari district arrived in the capital to draw the attention of the concerned authorities toward their plight. They submitted a memorandum along with their 13-point demand to the authorities. They are scheduled to stage similar protests in front of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu later Monday.

They had staged protests outside the Birendra International Convention Center while CA proceeding was underway inside the Center earlier on Sunday.
Thousands of locals in Sunsari district were displaced when Koshi River breached its embankment and diverted eastward changing its course on August 18 last year.
