ITAHARI, April 5: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has vowed to provide compensation to the Koshi flood victims on Wednesday.
She has also assured that she would draw attention of the concerned authority toward the plight of the Koshi flood victims.
Speaking at a program held following her visito to Barahakshetra Temple, President Bhandari said, “The erosion made by the Koshi River has left many locals in high and dry. I realized the woes of the erosion caused by the Koshi floods while visiting Barahakshetra Temple today.

Koshi River has eroded Barahakshetra Temple, one of the four major religious hubs of Hindus. The Koshi River has hit various places east of the Koshi River since 2022 BS.
The Koshi River has eroded over 160,000 katthas of arable land in Prakashpur, Mahendranagar VDCs, in Barahkshetra Municipality.
In 2065 BS, the government had decided to provide Rs 1.6 billion to the Koshi flood victims in compensation.
Geographically, Barahkshetra is the most suitable place for establishing Ayurveda University since it consists of hill, plain and Chure, Dr Shree Vaishnav Siddhababa Krishna Das Maharaja told Republica Online.
Bhandari was jointly felicitated by Barahakshetra Municipality and Jagatguru Ramananda Sewa Peeth.
