KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Nepali athlete Pramila Rijal failed to improve her personal timing and crashed out from the first round of women’s 100m sprint in Olympics 2012 on Friday.

She completed 100m distance in 13.33 seconds. Her personal best timing is 12.06 seconds. [break]

Rijal marred by back problems participated in the tournament against her doctors’ advice. Doctors administered her painkillers from Tuesday after she insisted on competing in the event. She had been suffering from the problem for the last three weeks but it was aggravated over the last three days.

Rijal said that she wanted to participate in the event as she might not get another opportunity to participate in the Olympics. Doctor Ranjit Baral has advised Pramila a six-month rest.

Debi Maya Paneru holds national record timing 12.02 second in women’s 100m sprint set in 1999.
