According to Nepal Association of Tours and Travel Agents (NATTA), Nepali passengers have to pay up to Rs 600 for one way travel on non-air-conditioned buses and up to Rs 1,100 for one way travel on air-conditioned buses. [break]Earlier, the fares on air-conditioned and non- air-conditioned buses stood at up to Rs 900 and up to Rs 500, respectively.
Likewise, foreign travelers will now have to pay US$ 10 for travel by non-AC buses. Earlier, this fare was US $7. However, NATTA has not changed fares of Kathmandu-Pokhara AC buses. It currently stands at $20.
NATTA President Kedar Sharma said the bus fares in Kathmandu-Pokhara route were revised after hike in prices of petroleum products. “Yet the fares are cheaper than many public vehicles plying the route,” Sharma said.
Currently, 34 tourist buses ply the Pokhara-Kathmandu every day. These buses ferry around 800 passengers every day.
