Addressing the inaugural session of the four-day long orientation program organized by Nepal Women´s Association in the capital, Sunday, the leaders said NC would not name its prime ministerial candidate until the situation becomes mature after the resignation of the present prime minister.
NC President Sushil Koirala said the announcement of CA election by ignoring consensus had created both constitutional and political crises in the country. Adding that CA election was not possible due to legal hurdles, Koirala said the election is merely a strategy of the Maoists to prolong their stay in power.
Koirala said that NC along with other opposition parties has launched battle against the government on different fronts including constitutional and in the streets and at the same time it has been holding talks with other parties to forge consensus to resolve current crises. "As he is the guardian of the constitution, we have already submitted a memorandum to the president against the unilaterally declared CA election," he said.
Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel said the country should get a new government as the current Bhattarai-led government has already proved a failure. "The Election Commission is about to declare that election is not possible. This is the failure of the government. Now, NC should be prepared to lead the new government and the current government should pave way for that," he said.
General secretary duo Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula argued that the prime minister first should step down to avoid the current crisis from deteriorating any further.
The orientation has been organized to impart the party´s women leaders with organizational leadership skills and also make them theoretically and ideologically competent.
