Girl sold by kin to Indian pimp rescued

BUTWAL, June 3: A plus two student who was about to be sold in an Indian brothel has been rescued after being held captive for 40 days in Ludhiana.



Asha Chaudhari, a student at Ram Mani Campus in Rupandehi was rescued a week ago by her brother-in-law Shiva Narayan Chaudhari. Asha´s another brother-in-law Narabahadur and her sister Meena Chaudhari had taken help from one of Asha´s close friend Dhanu Chaudhari to sell her off in India. [break]



According to Rameshwor Karki, police inspector at Butwal Area Police, the relatives and Asha´s friend had teamed up with an Indian boy named Rohan to sell her off in a brothel. “It has been revealed that Rohan had offered them Rs 50,000 for helping him take Asha to Ludhiyana,” said Karki.



Asha had been living at her sister´s for a year. The couple had introduced her to Rohan.



“But Shiva Narayan was quick to sense that something was wrong,” said Karki. “After he got a phone call from Asha asking him to rescue her, he straight away went to Ludhiana, but could not find her,” he added.



According to the police, with help from one Jaspal Singh in Ludhiana Shiva Narayan was finally able to rescue Asha from captivity.



“I have come to know that one should not trust anyone. My best friend and my own relatives deceived me,” said the girl.



Karki stated that the girl´s relatives and friend have been held and investigation is on. “We will take due action against the culprits,´ he said.
