2 killed, 29 injured in road mishap

KANCHANPUR, May 5: Two people died on the spot and 29 others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident near Bhansi on the East-West Highway on Friday night.



The bus with registration number Na 4 Kha 4394 was going towards Bajhang from Bhimdatta Nagar at the time of the accident.[break]



 The mishap took place at 11 last night as the bus tried to overtake another vehicle.



The deceased are the owner of the bus 40-year-old Narendra Bohara of Bhimdatta Nagar-3 and the assistant driver, a man aged 20 years, police said.



Seven of the injured passengers are said to be in critical condition. They have been taken to India after their treatment was not possible at the local Mahakali Zonal Hospital.



The remaining injured people are undergoing treatment at the Mahakali Zonal Hospital.



Police is searching for the bus driver who absconded soon after the accident.
