Dr Shaubhagya Jung Karki, chairman of the foundation, laid the foundation stone of the statue amid a function on Saturday, on the occasion of Rai´s 92nd birth anniversary. A full statue will be built at Milan chowk, Okhaldhunga VDC-3, according to Pradip Sunuwar, district president of NC.
A local Buddhi Bahadur Rai donated a piece of land worth Rs 500,000 to construct the statue.
The foundation has been collecting funds from its members to construct a six-foot tall statue. The construction will cost around Rs 200,000 and the foundation has planned to complete it in the next six months, according to Ram Hari Khatiwada, an NC youth leader.
