“They have demanded Rs 25,000 from each dealer. We´ve already donated some amount but aren´t in a position to pay more,” an automobile dealer said, preferring anonymity.
Dharan Automobile Dealers´ Association (DADA) has requested Sunsari Chamber of Commerce and Industries to look into the issue. The chamber held discussion with the local administration on the issue on Tuesday itself.
“We were left with no option but to close our showrooms as we are being forced to make donation almost every day,” Dinesh Milan Shrestha, director of Dharan-based Hero Honda showroom told Republica.
Cadres of the parishad have also threatened some automobile dealers of dire consequences for not providing them the amount demanded by them.
Meanwhile, Sunsari Police has said that it would take action against persons involved in forceful collection of donation if a complaint is filed against them.
There are 10 showrooms of different automobile brands in Dharan.
Damber Khajum, Sunsari chairman of Sanghiya Limbuwan Rajya Parishad, maintained that they have not forced anyone for donation payment. “We´ve asked entrepreneurs to donate us a certain amount. But we´ve not threatened them for payment,” he added.
