According to Prem Bahadur Malla, the chief of Regional Sports Development Committee, the construction of VIP dais, parapet, etc., has begun from Wednesday. A technical team from Kathmandu arrived here for construction of physical infrastructure.
"The construction work has begun in full swing after the arrival of engineers and technical team," Malla said.
The preparation has gathered pace in different places of far-western region such as Dhangadi, Mahendranagar, Tikarpur, Dadeldhura and others.
The construction of VIP parapet, general parapet, repair of covered hall, volleyball court, athletics track and other infrastructure are being undertaken for the games. Similarly, senior coaches of different games have started arriving in Dhangadi.
Chief of National Sports Council coaching department Nabin Upreti has arrived in Dhangadi and will stay here until the completion of games. Senior cricket coach Sunoj Bhattarai and senior athletics coach Mohan Ghale have also arrived in Dhangadi.
The district level selection will begin from November 17 and regional selection will be held by mid-February, according to Malla.
"We were doubtful whether the game shall be held in this region as in the past the game was suspended and postponed after it was announced. But we are excited on seeing the construction work going in full pace following the declaration of the government," international karate player Prakash Chand said.
After the completion of Fourth National Games in Nepalgunj in 2054 BS, the fifth edition was scheduled to be held in the far-western region but was later postponed in the capital citing different reasons.
The current edition of the games was scheduled to be held March last year but was called off just two days before it was scheduled to kick off.
