Since its establishment in 2039 BS, so far 127 artistes have been awarded with Chhinnalata Awards.
The award ceremony also marked the 89th anniversary of Late Ramola Devi Shah ‘ Chhinnalata’, the founder of the guthi.
Jyoti Rajyalaxmi Shah, daughter of Ramola Devi, and caretaker of the guthi, organized the award ceremony as in the previous years.
“I hope that the artistes and litterateurs will be respected well in the future,” said, Nir Shah, actor and lyricist, speaking at the event.
“This country will never change until the artistes in the country are well respected,” Shah said adding, “A day will come when artistes will be richer than businessmen.”
Sukmit Gurung, singer, entertained the guests with her songs ‘Relimai’ and ‘Priyatama’.
Pramod Kharel also presented some ghazals at the event.
Sabin Rai and Udit Narayan Jha were not present at the award ceremony.
