The event, which was earlier scheduled to start from Monday, has been postponed for Tuesday as the players were given a day´s time to practice. [break]The tournament is being organized jointly by Nepal Volleyball Association Women´s Commission and Regional Hotel Association of Nepal (RHAN), Chitwan.
The three-day tournament will feature a total of 12 teams including two teams from Western Region, one team each from other development regions, and two teams each from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and People´s Liberation Army (PLA). The participating teams are divided into four groups.
The tournament will be held in league-cum-knockout format.
All the participating teams have already arrived in Sauraha. Co-organizer RHAN Chitwan has already prepared an artificial beach court on the bank of the Rapti River. According to Shankar Saiju, the president of RHAN Chitwan, they have coordinated with the Women´s Volleyball Commission with a view to develop Chitwan as a sports tourism destination.
Women´s Volleyball Commission President Niroj Maskey said they have taken the event as a beginning. “We will host the event every year if this tournament is successful.”
