3 killed in road accident

SINDHUPALCHOWK, Feb 10: Three persons were killed and another injured when a jeep fell into a canal at Jhangre in Sindhupalchowk on Sunday. A bolero jeep (Ba 4 Cha 1466) of Unique Hydropower Company heading for the construction site of a hydropower project at Baramchi skidded off 100 meters into the canal along the Balefi-Jalbire road section at 4 pm, said the police.



The deceased have been identified as Shankar Ghimire, 28, of Baramchi VDC- 2, Thakur Kaji Shrestha of Hangm VDC- 3 and Maila Shrestha, 30, of Ghumthang in Jankhor, informed DSP Pratab Gurung. [break]



Shankar and Thakur worked as plant operator in the hydropower project. Driver Kapil Giri was critically injured in the accident and is receiving treatment at BNB hospital of Lalitpur, said DSP Gurung.
