3.7 million children being administered Vitamin A capsules

KATHMANDU, April 19: About 3.7 million children aged between six months and five years are being administered vitamin A capsules across the country Sunday and Monday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.



UN Children´s Fund (UNICEF) says lives of about 12,000 children are saved each year by the national Vitamin A campaign, which started 16 years ago.



Along with vitamin A capsules, children in between the age group of one and five years are also fed anti-worm medicines, according to state-controlled Nepal Television.



Meanwhile, children of 25 districts in Western and far-western regions are being vaccinated DPT and Hepatitis B.
