Students of Grade Two of Nepal National Primary School situated at Dumarwana-7, the site of proposed international airport, study being packed like sardines in one classroom.[break]
Many students stand and study throughout the classroom time. "Even if we cram into the classroom it can hardly adjust all," said Bishal Thapa Magar, a second grader of the school. Nearly 10 students sit on a bench meant for five students, said another student Nabina BK.
Teachers say the problem is due to shortage of classroom. Lack of classroom is hampering teaching and learning activities, according to Dilli Kumari Budhathoki, a primary teacher. "One period consists of 45 minutes. We cannot spare even one minute time to one student."
According to Chairman of school management committee Shankar Thokar, the school up to Grade Five has 750 students. "We have only five classrooms for 750 students," he said.
Thokar said that the District Education Office has done nothing thought the office is well aware of the problem.
