KATHMANDU, March 17: Locals, civil society members and consumer groups Tuesday threatened stringent protests against water and power shortages and issued a 15-day deadline to the government.

Addressing a mass at Kathmandu Durbar Square, Constituent Assembly member Nabindra Raj Joshi blamed government apathy for the shortages.

"It´s intolerable and we will be compelled to launch stringent protests if the problems are not resolved within 15 days," he said.

The mass marched past Yatkha, Makhan, Indrachowk, Watu, Ombahal and returned to Kathmandu Durbar square.
