KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Nepali Congress on Monday said that the role of UNMIN, a UN body, was not satisfactory as it failed to play constructive roles.

A meeting of the office bearers of the party on Monday morning also concluded that the government should not extend the UNMIN´s tenure. [break]

If the parties decided to extend UNMIN tenure, the NC made it clear that UNMIN should be assigned to monitor Maoist army who have been residing in various UN-monitored camps but not the Nepal Army.

UNMIN’s tenure is expiring on September 15.

The meeting also concluded that the present procedure of the prime minister selection would not be able to pick successor of Madhav Kumar Nepal unless the parties ‘rethink’ the selection procedure.

NC also cautioned that the fifth round of PM voting would end as a debacle.
