KATHMANDU, March 14: The government and agitating Tharu groups are close to signing a deal, ending almost two-week long protests along the Tarai. A leader of Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party Hridayesh Tripathi, who participated in Saturday´s talks between the government side led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the Tharu leaders (Laxman Tharu and Raj Kumar Lekhi) as an observer, told reporters that both the sides have agreed to replace the term "Madhes" in the interim constitution with "Tarai-Madhes".
