The grant assistance was handed over to Department of Forests (DoF) and Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC), the two state agencies under the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation. [break]
The grant agreement was signed in this regard on Wednesday. It was signed by Anil Manandhar, country representative of WWF-Nepal, and Madhav Prasad Acharya, director general of DoF and Gopal Prasad Upadhyay, director general of DNPWC, respectively.
These programs, WWF-Nepal said, will be implemented in the Tarai Arc Landscape (TAL), Langtang National Park and Buffer Zone, Kanchenjungha Conservation Area and Sagarmatha National Park and Buffer Zone areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Manandhar said, “We are very pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with the Government of Nepal and will continue in our efforts to save the rich natural heritage of our country by working together to address new conservation challenges.”
WWF-Nepal has been working in the TAL, Kanchenjungha and Sagarmatha region for more than a decade and has been working in the Langtang area for the last three years.
