Surya Laksam, 26, of Nagi-2 in Panchthar district, mercilessly beat his daughter Rammaya to death with a piece of firewood on Monday night. [break]
According to Rammaya´s 8 year old brother Khagendra, the father stepped out of their home that night after thrashing his sister.
“My sister slept sobbing,” he told Republica over phone. “I assumed that she felt asleep but I knew the next morning that she died at night.”
Surya had thrashed Khagendra as well.
“He was not able to stand on his feet,” Chandra Ghimire, Assistant Health Worker (AHW) of Gopetar Primary Health Center said.
“There were bruises all over his body.”
Khagendra has been discharged after undergoing treatment for two days.
There was no one else in the house when Surya beat his two children. Surya´s wife had left him two years ago being fed up with his drunkard behavior.
Khagendra is being taken care of by his grandmother Lok Kumari, who has lodged a case of murder against Surya at District Police Office of Panchthar.
Surya is still at large.
