The Home Ministry has said that work is on to mobilize resources to set up BSF checkposts in Solukhumbu, Sindhuli, Taplejung, Dolakha and Sankhuwasabha districts as well. An APF team has already reached Mustang to establish the checkpost.
Madan Singh Bista, chief of Chandika battalion in Parvat, said, "As per the government´s plan to establish security posts, the police team has now come to Mustang."
Bista informed that the post will be set up at Lomanthang, which borders Tibet. He said at present the BSF team consisting 27 security personnel, is in Jomsom, Mustang, due to heavy snow deposits at Lomanthang.
The BSF team under the command of DSP Narayan Shrestha will be sent to Lomanthang soon and the number of security personnel in the team will be increased to 46, Bista informed.
With the setting up of the checkpost, it is also hoped that the customs point between Mustang and Tibet would operate smoothly thereby easing the way for the locals to import daily items from Tibet. The locals of Mustang have been facing problems as the Korala and Chusang checkpoints between Mustang and Tibet remain closed time and again.
The spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Jaya Mukunda Khanal, said, "After Mustang and Manang, we will set up more checkposts in other districts as well for which we are mobilizing resources."
The government has already set up 17 checkposts from Jhapa to Kanchanpur along the border with India.
