Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport Koirala said, “The 14-province model has been adopted without understanding the wishes of the people.” Being a small country, Nepal cannot afford to have many provinces, she added. “We have adopted the custom of making big decisions without going for referendum.”
“If BP could hold referendum during Panchayati rule, why can´t we adopt this democratic norm now?” she questioned. She said the high-level political mechanism coordinated by Girija Prasad Koirala is “not parallel” to the government.
PM´s chopper leaves supporters confused
The Nepali Congress activists and security personnel mobilized to welcome the DPM were confused when a Nepal Army helicopter landed at Biratnagar airport.
They were dumbfounded as even after waiting for a long time no one came out of the helicopter. They found out later that the chopper had actually stopped for fuel-refill after dropping the prime minister in Dharan.
