Student protests disrupt vehicular movement in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Vehicular movement in several areas in Kathmandu was disrupted on Sunday as agitating students affiliated to the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) staged demonstrations in front of various colleges in the capital city.



The ANNFSU, the student wing of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist), staged demonstrations demanding the release of four ANNFSU members arrested by police on Friday.



Police arrested the members in connection with an attack on members affiliated with the Nepali Congress student wing of the Nepal Student Union at Kathmandu Education Campus in Pradarshanimarg on Friday.



Nayan Singh Bohora, Dhan Singh Bohora, Dipak Regmi and Daman Dhami were arrested in connection with that incident, police said.



Seven NSU college leaders, including Dilli Ram Subedi and Pradip Giri sustained serious injuries during the fight.
