KATHMANDU, July 1: Landslides triggered by incessant rainfall since Saturday morning have disrupted vehicular movement on several road sections across the country, causing inconvenience to the commuters traveling to various places.
A report from Dhorpatan said that vehicular movement along the Burtibang-Rukum road section of the Mid-Hill Highway has been disrupted in Baglung district due to rain-triggered landslides since Saturday morning. Efforts are underway to clear the debris and resume traffic movement, said Surya Bahadur Gharti Magar, chairperson of Nishi Khola Rural Municipality.
Landslides disrupt traffic on various roads across country
Similarly, a report from Muglin stated that The Narayangadh-Muglin road section has been disrupted again when a landslide occurred near Tuin stream at Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5 of Chitwan on Saturday morning. The landslide that occurred at 11:35 AM blocked the two way traffic along the road, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.
Likewise, traffic in the hill areas of Nawalpur has been disrupted due to landslides. Head of the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur, Ganesh Paudel said that traffic was blocked due to landslides in Pangre and Pokahri areas of Hupsekot Rural Municipality-5 under Daldale-Kumsot-Pokhari road section of the district. Nawalpur section of Kaligandaki Corridor has also been blocked due to landslides.
As a result, vehicles and the commuters have been stranded on the road.
