Sensitive Index, an indicator of transaction of category ´A´ companies listed in Nepse, also shed by 1.21 points to 146.58 points.
Banking, key trading group in the secondary stock market, fell by 4.74 points to close at 565.65 points with as major banks such as Bank of Kathmandu, Everest Bank, Nabil Bank and NIC Bank suffered losses in the prices of their shares.
Development Bank and Hydropower groups also saw their indices declined by 0.17 points and 2.81 points to finish at 637.94 points and 826.9 points, respectively. Similarly, indices of Finance and Others groups also shed by 1.9 points and 5.87 points to 606.65 points and 622.7 points, respectively.
However, Insurance group gained by 0.17 points to close at 602.51 points.
Mero Mobile to expand coverage
KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Spice Nepal, the operator of Mero Mobile brand of mobile service, has announced that the company will soon expand its coverage to new parts of the country.
The company is speeding up the rollout plan as thousands of new customers are lining up to take part in Mero Mobile´s Gift a Gift campaign, according to a press release.
Under the campaign launched in October, the customers buying Rs 100 Mero Mobile recharge card are provided with a gift-wrapped prepaid SIM card with Rs 15 balance, which can be used by the customer or gifted to a friend or relative.
“The company is very encouraged by the great interest in our Gift a Gift campaign, which is attracting many new customers. The rapid expansion of our network is one way of welcoming these customers by providing them with improved voice quality and connectivity,” said Pasi Koistinen, Chief Executive Officer of Spice Nepal.
The company, however, has stated that it will disclose the details about its extended coverage in future.
The release says that since May 2009, 4.5 million more people have come within Mero Mobile´s operating area. "Its network now covers about 60 percent of the population and around 22 percent of the total geographical area,” says the release, adding that Spice Nepal had more than 1.8 million subscribers as of Sept-end, 2009.
Nokia to replace chargers
KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Nokia has launched a charger exchange program, in which consumers owning certain Nokia chargers manufactured by a third party supplier can exchange the chargers for free replacement.
Only a limited number of chargers of certain model manufactured by a third party supplier during a specific time period are within the scope of the exchange program. Globally, three charger models manufactured by BYD within a specific time period are affected [AC-3E, AC-3U and AC-4U], states a press release.
However, the release said the offer is limited to AC-3E and AC-3U models manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009, and purchased through authorized distributors in Nepal.
