DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh said the arrested Tibetans were sent to immigration office in Kathmandu. Tibetans frequently cross into Nepal via this border point. Meanwhile, Home Ministry officials in Kathmandu said the Tibetans were being brought to Kathmandu and that they would be handed over to UNHCHR.
"They did not have any valid travel documents and they could not communicate with us," AFP quoted police officer as saying said.
Some 2,500 Tibetans used to make the dangerous trip from Chinese-controlled Tibet to Nepal every year on their way to India to meet their exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.
