Youth accused of eve teasing, succumbs to injuries

JHAPA, July 12: A youth has died after being beaten up for “eve teasing” in Jhapa. This comes less than a month after a man lost his life in the district for the same reason.



Naresh Poudel, 24, of Damak-12, who had sustained knife injuries in a scuffle on Friday, died during treatment at B P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan on Saturday night. A group of three armed persons had beaten up Poudel at his home on Friday afternoon.



According to police, the assailants are Yogesh Khatiwada and Sandeep Khatiwada of Damak-12, and Purna Bahadur Rai of Chulachuli-6, Ilam. They had attacked Poudel accusing him of teasing two college girls in Damak.



Police have taken the trio and the two girls into custody.



Jagmohan Sahani, 27, of Rajgadh was also killed in a similar incident in Anarmani on June 17.
