JHAPA, Feb 17: The Nepali football team which won the men's football tournament of the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) which concluded in Guwahati, India received a grand welcome after arriving in Jhapa on Wednesday.
The football team arrived at Kakarbhitta of Jhapa district where a victory rally was held. The rally was organized by the District Sports Development Committee of Jhapa, said Shankar Thapa, president of the committee.

The victory rally began from Kakarbhitta and proceeded to the Chandragadhi airport, passing through Dhulabari and Birtamod. Earlier,a team including Minister for Youth and Sports, Satya Narayan Mandal and Joint Secretary at the ministry Chudamani Pokharel had reached Bagdogra, India to welcome the victorious team.
A victory rally, to be organized by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) will be held in Kathmandu as well.
The rally which will begin from the Tribhuvan International Airport will take the route of Tilganga, Gaushala Chowk, Ratopul, Gyaneshwar, Lhotse Chowk, Kamalpokhari, Putalisadak, Padmodaya turning, Exhibition Road, Rastriya Sabhagriha, Bhadrakali, Sundhara, New Road Gate, Bir Hospital, Bhotahiti, Jamal, Keshar Mahal, Narayanhiti Museum South Gate, Old Buspark, Bhadrakali, Sahidgate, Tripureshwar and conclude at the Dashrath Stadium where ANFA will organize a special program to honor the team.

Nepal bagged the gold medal beating India 2-1 in the final of the SAG on Monday, after 23 years.
