NC boycotts State Affairs Committee meeting over PM Shah’s absence

The NC said it decided to boycott the meeting after the prime minister, who is also overseeing the Home Ministry portfolio, repeatedly failed to attend despite the need to answer questions related to the ministry.

KATHMANDU, May 11: The main opposition party, the Nepali Congress (NC), boycotted a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee on Monday after Prime Minister Balen Shah was absent for the second consecutive time.



The NC said it decided to boycott the meeting after the prime minister, who is also overseeing the Home Ministry portfolio, repeatedly failed to attend despite the need to answer questions related to the ministry.

NC parliamentary party Chief Whip Bhishmaraj Angdembe, whip Nishkal Rai, and lawmakers Arjun Narasingha KC and Rekha Kumari Yadav did not attend the meeting scheduled for 11 AM on Monday.


Angdembe said they had informed committee chair Hari Dhakal to notify them once the prime minister attends the meeting.


The committee meeting had also been affected earlier due to the prime minister’s absence.
