Due to obstacles imposed by the UDMF, all the scheduled programs of Yuwa Sangha could not take place in the district. However, the CPN-UML's youth wing claimed successful completion of the programs.
A source close to the police claimed that Yuwa Sangh's central leader Parshuram Basnet, who came to the district to attend the gathering, returned with police escorts after the UDMF disruption.
Basnet had arrived in the district headquarters on Thursday night to address Friday's programs scheduled to be held in Rajbiraj and Kathauna. Following the UML leader's visit, UDMF cadres were mobilized in Rajbiraj to protest his presence.
Of late, the UDMF has decided to disrupt any program being held against the agitating Madhesi communities. “As per our decision, we halted the program of Yuwa Sangh in the district,” said UDMF Saptari coordinator Kapil Dev Yadav.
Meanwhile, UDMF cadres have taken control of half a dozen vehicles from different parts of the district citing that they were operated in defiance of their protest program.
Although local famers have been allowed to use their tractors for cultivation purpose during the wheat farming season, UDMF has also impounded some tractors used by farmers as well.
The UDMF was forced to take those tractors under control after they were found to be used for purposes other than agriculture, according to UDMF-affiliated student leader Tarkeshwar Yadav.
However, the district coordinator of the UDMF told Republica that the seized vehicles will be handed over to the respective owners in the evening.
