Police inspector Sekh Adalat, who led the team reaching the incident site from District Police Office (DPO) Parsa, informed that UDMF carders waiting in the areas torched the vehicle that was returning from Birgunj after dispatching the newspapers.
The incident site is located on the Birgunj-Pathalaiya road section between Lipanibirta of Parsa and Lipanimal of Bara. The vehicle was completely damaged in the arson before police personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) doused the fire.
It is learnt that UDMF cadres torched the vehicle after Kantipur daily published a special report about involvement of their leader in smuggling on Saturday. On Saturday, copies of the newspaper were burnt in the district to protest the report.
UDMF cadres have been blaming the publications for publishing news against Madhes movement.
