Two arrested with Red Panda hide

KATHMANDU, Feb 28:  Police have arrested two persons involved in smuggling of rare wild animal Red Panda.
 
Acting on a tip off, a joint team from Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and Area Police Office, Anarmani arrested Sukbir Rai, 20, of Taplejung and Kamal Kumar Mangmu, 47, of Panchthar in Jhapa on Saturday.

Police recovered two skins of Red Panda from their possession.  They have been handed over to the District Forest Office, Jhapa for further action.

Anyone found guilty of killing or smuggling red panda can face jail terms between 5-15 years and fine of up to Rs 100,000 or both, according to National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act.
