KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday slid 0.53 points to close at 2,644.70 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,645.24 points, initially adding four points, plunged to the day’s low at 2,638.46 points within the first 34 minutes of trading. The index went up and reached as high as 2,652.32 points in the next 80 minutes. However, the market could not retain its charm and gradually fell to as low as 2,638.53 points in the last 15 minutes. The market recovered around six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

As the life insurance index plunged by the largest of 76.69 points, hotels and tourism lost 44.29 points, followed by banking, microfinance and investment groups. Of the eight gainers, manufacturing and processing added the largest of 40.96 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 1.26 points. The daily turnover slightly declined to Rs 4.48 billion from Rs 4.71 billion.
Among the individual companies, 125 were gainers while 119 were recorded as losers. United Hydropower Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 318.13 million.
Green Ventures Limited witnessed the highest fall of 9.85 percent of its market price. Six companies including Sagar Distillery Limited, Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Jhapa Energy Limited, Mabilung Energy Limited, Bungal Hydro Limited and Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited were the topmost gainers of 10 percent.
