Taiwan's two-wheelers SYM in Nepal

KATHMANDU, July 6: Taiwan´s popular two-wheelers will soon be seen on Nepal´s roads as Shrestha Company, the authorized dealer of SYM two-wheelers, launched four models of motorcycles and scooters.



The company has launched three segments of two-wheeler´s in the Nepali market: Wolf SB250Ni, a sports bike; Jet 4 and Orbit, scooters; and Magic, a cub. All of the two-wheelers meet the Euro 3 standard. [break]



The company has also opened an exclusive showroom for SYM at Teku, Kathmandu.



"SYM, with its tagline ´Engine of life´ is gaining popularity in Europe, America, Africa and Japan, and we are hopeful that Nepali customers will love it as well," said Suresh Bahadur Shrestha, assistant general manager of Shrestha Company.







The SYM Wolf SB250 Ni motorcycle is a 250 cc 4-stroke, single-cylinder liquid engine bike with a sporty look. The bike has a six-speed gear transmission system and can generate a maximum power of 18.4 KW.



Along with its sporty appeal, the Wolf has telescopic fork front and unit swing arm rear suspension. "We are mainly targeting youngsters who are fond of sporty bike," said Shrestha.



According to the company, Jet 4 is a sporty model with special body design, 13 inch of front wheel and 4-stroke, electroplated ceramic cylinder engine that increases engine life and riding stability. It has CVT transmission system, front disc brake of 226mm and has the capacity of storing up to 5.2 litres fuel.



Likewise, Orbit has a 12-inch tyre and light body making it perfectly suitable for Nepali roads. It features 4-stroke, air-cooled engine, weighs 109 kg and can store up to 5.2 liters of fuel.



The scooters, Jet 4 and Orbit, have 125 cc engines and the company claims it to be the first scooters with tubeless tyres.



Magic, a cub, has a 125 cc, 4-stroke engine with four-speed manual transmission system, 4 speed gear, and bigger tyres suitable for long travel. It can store up to 3.5 liters of fuel.



"We are planning to market the Magic outside the valley especially in Tarai," informed Shrestha.



On the occasion of its launching, the company has announced Rs 40,000 discount on bike, Rs 20,000 on scooters and Rs 15,000 on the cub for a period of one week.



The introductory price for Wolf SB250Ni is Rs 599,900, Orbit Rs 179,900, Jet 4 Rs 199,900 and Magic is available at Rs 154,900.



"Our target is to sell around 700 units in the first year," said Shrestha. He also informed that the company is planning to introduce 125 cc and 150 cc bikes in the near future.



The company is planning to appoint dealers in Bhairahawa, Biratnagar or Itahari, Butwal, Janakpur, Narayanghat, Nepalgunj and Pokhara, besides the valley.
