SPORTS BRIEFS: Triton wins title

KATHMANDU, July 7: Triton overcame VS Niketan by one point to lift the title of First UVC Men´s Open Basketball Tournament held at Pepsi Cola, Bhaktapur. In the final played on Saturday, Trition registered a hard fought 38-37 win over VS Niketan. Rabi Giri top scored with nine points for Triton. Giri also the highest scorer of tournament scored a total of 56 points.



Ayush Singh of Triton was declared the most valuable player in the tournament organized by United Victory Club (UVC). [break]Altogether 16 teams had competed in the tournament held under league cum knockout basis.


Sainik qualifies for final round


KATHMANDU: Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur, on Saturday advanced into the final round of Coca Cola Cup Inter-school Boys Football Tournament from the Central Region. Sainik defeated Shining Star School 3-0 in the final of group A played at the Sano Gaucharan ground.



Mandip Rokka netted twice for the winning side and Sanjiv Ranamagar added another. In other matches, GEMS, Sirius and Manomohan Memorial emerged victorious.
