BARA, Jan 28: A late-night attack by unidentified assailants left a mother and her son dead and several other family members injured in Bara, District Police Office (DPO), Bara said.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijayaraj Pandit, spokesperson for the DPO, Bara, the victims are Sumitra Devi and her son Rameshwar Mahato, wife and son of Jagarup Mahato of Parwanipur Rural Municipality–1, Rahariyadi. The attack took place while the family was asleep at home.

Jagarup Mahato sustained severe injuries and remains in critical condition. Two other family members were also injured in the incident, police added.
Inspector Tupendra Shrestha, chief of the Area Police Office, Prasauni, said the assailants entered the house at around 3 am and attacked the family with sharp weapons. Police have launched a detailed investigation, examining both family-related and external angles to identify those responsible.
The injured are receiving treatment at LS Neuro Hospital in Parwanipur, according to DOP, Bara.
Authorities said the motive behind the attack remains unknown, and efforts are ongoing to determine who carried out the killings and why.
