KATHMANDU, Sept 2: A woman and her young son were found dead in their rented room in Lahan Municipality-1, Matiarwa, Siraha, while her seven-month-old baby was rescued in critical condition.
According to police, 23-year-old Ranjita Chaudhary and her five-year-old son, Aaron Chaudhary, were discovered lifeless inside their room on Tuesday morning. Neighbours had alerted police after detecting a foul smell from the room.
Infant snatched from mother’s shop recovered dead
Upon arrival, officers found Ranjita in an unusual state and her son Aaron dead on the bed. The infant was rushed to Sapta Rishi Hospital in Lahan, where treatment is ongoing, Police Inspector Kailash Rai said.
Preliminary investigation suggests the possible use of strong pesticide, though the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed. The deceased woman’s husband, Prabin Chaudhary, is reportedly away for labour work and has not been in contact.
Police have launched a detailed investigation, with further clarity expected after the post-mortem report.
