Valley Public, Baba clinch title
KATHMANDU: Host Valley Public and Baba Boarding School clinched the titles of the Seventh Valley Public Inter School Basketball Tournament in the girls´ and boys´ section respectively. In girls´ section, Valley Public thrashed Bagmati 38-16 in the final on Monday as Sony Waiba and Sujita Thapa contributed 15 points each. Daffodil pulled a thrilling 26-25 victory over Young Heart in the third place playoff. Sonia Limbu of Valley Public received the most-valuable-player award while her teammate Jenisha Gurung received award for the best three-pointer.
Bagmati´s Shanti Shrestha, who scored 87 points during the tournament, received prize of the highest scorer. In boys´ section, Baba beat defending champion Trungram International Academy (TIA) 41-39 riding on Bishal Ranjit´s 13 points. HIMS outclassed Valley Public 42-36 in the third place playoff. Keshang Thakuri of TIA was adjudged the most-valuable-player while Sohan Tamang of Valley Public received the award for the best three-pointer. Baba´s Mukesh Baniya, who scored 136 points in total, received prize of the highest scorer.
