All sector indices decline as NEPSE falls to 2,610

Nepal's stock market extended its losses on Thursday, with the benchmark NEPSE index falling 19.67 points to close at 2,601. Trading turnover also declined.

KATHMANDU, July 9: Nepal's stock market extended its losses on Thursday, with the benchmark NEPSE index falling 19.67 points to close at 2,601. Trading turnover also declined.



The market had dropped 30 points in the previous session. Daily turnover fell to Rs 4.61 billion from Rs 4.82 billion a day earlier.


The market remained in negative territory throughout the trading session. Share prices of 42 companies advanced, while 229 declined and six remained unchanged.

All sectoral indices ended lower. The banking index fell 0.50 percent, development banks 1.11 percent, finance 0.62 percent, hotels and tourism 0.76 percent, hydropower 0.70 percent, investment 0.95 percent, life insurance 0.61 percent, manufacturing and processing 1.19 percent, microfinance 0.69 percent, non-life insurance 0.66 percent, others 0.18 percent and trading 2.36 percent.


Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. posted the biggest gain of the day, rising 12.68 percent, followed by Snow Rivers Limited with an 11.76 percent increase.


On the losing side, Salapa Bikas Bank Limited fell 8.28 percent, Three Star Hydropower Limited dropped 7.92 percent, and Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited declined 5.76 percent.


Debentures accounted for the highest trading value during the session. Other actively traded securities included Reliance Spinning Mills Limited, Asian Life Insurance Company Limited (founder shares), Aankhu Khola Jalvidyut Company Limited, Central Finance Limited and Best Finance Company Limited.
