Man attempts self-immolation outside Department of Passports

Hospital officials told Republica that Nepali is in critical condition.

KATHMANDU, July 9: A man attempted self-immolation outside the Department of Passports in Kathmandu on Thursday.



Police rescued him with burn injuries and rushed him to Bir Hospital for treatment.

The man has been identified as 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali.


According to police, Nepali allegedly poured petrol over himself before setting himself on fire. However, the full details and circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established.


Hospital officials told Republica that Nepali is in critical condition. 


Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
