Timilsina beat Samyakbhusan Bajracharya 12-10, 10-7 for the win. Sworaj KC and Aryan Giri settled for the third place. In the U-16 boys´ doubles, the pair of Achal Thapa and Ananda Gauchan beat Arya BC and Suyash Nahata 9-3 and pair of Milan Rokka and Suman Karki overpowered Abhilash Khattri and Gaurav Shahi 9-2 to secure berth in the final.
In the U-16 girls´ doubles, Gita Shrestha and Aakriti Acharya will meet the pair of Anuska Malla and Punam Shrestha in the final. Shrestha and Acharya beat Diwa Rana and Khusbu 9-6 while Malla and Shrestha and edged past Sachi Gurung and Rabina Gurung 9-7. In the U-12 boys´ singles, Samrakshyan Bhusan Bajracharya and Rejan Lama fixed the final clash. Annie Mathema and Bhibhuti Karki will compete in the final of U-12 girls´ singles.
Thapa, Shrestha win trophies
KATHMANDU: Purna Bahadhur Thapa from Nepal Police School and Neeru Shrestha from Prithvi School won the title of senior boys and girls´ singles respectively in the First St Lawrence Valley-wide Inter School Badminton Tournament on Friday.
Thapa defeated Ravindra Shivakoti 21-19, 21-15 while Shrestha beat Sushma Lama 21-14, 21-11 in the final played at the National Sports Council Covered Hall. In the junior boys and girls´ singles, Madan Tamang from Lord Buddha Academy and Riya Jha from Police School respectively claimed the winners´ trophies in their categories. Altogether 350 players had participated in the tournament from 38 different schools.
