USD dearer by a rupee today




A US dollar, which has been on upward spiral for the last few weeks, has become dearer by a rupee today. Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of Nepal, has fixed selling price of USD at Rs 116.23 while buying rate is at Rs 115.63 today.

Justice Deepak Raj Joshee, who had been on leave after the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) did not endorse his name as the Chief Justice, has resumed his office today. PHSC had conducted hearing on Joshee on August 3. He had been on leave following the hearing. He reached the Supreme Court on Monday evening to welcome newly appointed Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra.


Landslides obstruct Dhunche-Syafrubesi road



The Dhunche-Syafrubesi highway has been obstructed at Khopangbhir by rainfall-induced landslides since yesterday. The closure comes a week after vehicular movements had resumed following an obstruction. The highway has been repeatedly obstructed due to landslides in the past one month.

Inaugurating the NADA Auto Show, a yearly exhibition of vehicles, including new ones, Khatiwada not just urged every one to reduce vehicle imports, he also had a tip to potential buyers: Don't buy vehicles by auto loans. 


US marks 9/11 with somber tributes, new monument to victims



Americans are commemorating 9/11 with somber tributes, volunteer projects and a new monument to victims, after a year when two attacks demonstrated the enduring threat of terrorism in the nation’s biggest city. Thousands of 9/11 victims’ relatives, survivors, rescuers and others are expected at Tuesday’s anniversary ceremony at the World Trade Center, while President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will head to the two other places where hijacked planes crashed on Sept. 11, 2001, in the deadliest terror attack on American soil.


Chief of Army Staff sports championship kicks off


The 2018 Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Trophy Sports Championship has kicked off in Kathmandu on Monday. CoAS Purna Chandra Thapa inaugurated the championship that is being organized at the sports grounds of Nepal Army and Armed Police Force. A total of 14 teams are taking part in the championship that will end on October 5. The championship will feature athletics, swimming, boxing, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, football, kabaddi, cycling, and handball.
