KATHMANDU, May 31: The schools which have remained closed after the massive earthquake have come into operation from Sunday.

The schools were closed down for a month following the April 25 earthquake and May 12 powerful tremor.

Though many schools have reopened from today the curricular activities in some of the school buildings suffering damages would be operated after some days, stated the decision of the Ministry of Education.

The government has the policy to provide with psycho-social counseling to the students before resuming classroom activities.

Students are being sent to private and public schools in quake-affected zones including the Kathmandu Valley. The schools have resumed their educational activities by constructing temporary shelters as an alternative after technical assessment of the devastated and partially damaged school structures.

Some of the private boarding schools are running classes in two shifts due to limited makeshift rooms. With reopening of schools, life is expected to come back to normalcy in the trembler-hit zones.

Director of Department of Education Khagendra Nepal said the school reopening bid would be coordinated by the concerned District Education Office and notice was already issued regarding the preparation for classroom operation. RSS
