SC issues show case notice against English names

KATHMANDU, July 24: The Supreme Court (SC) has on Tuesday issued a show cause notice in the name of the defendants in response to a writ petition filed seeking stringent laws to manage the private-run schools charging exorbitant fees and those named after English cities and football clubs.



The order was handed down by a single bench of Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi and it has asked the defendants—the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Law and Justice, the Higher Secondary Education Board and the Higher Secondary Schools Association-Nepal to be present along with clarification in writing within the next 15 days.



The petition was filed on Monday by advocates Raj Kumar Rana and Dayaram Humagain arguing that stringent laws were necessary to check the increate rate of anomalies and aberrations in the private-run schools.
