Nepal won the 100m and 400m sprints in the boys section of deaf at the Dasharath Stadium. Nepal completed the 100m sprint in 12.66 seconds while he clocked 1 minute 00.64 seconds to run 400m.[break]
Sanjay Tamang of Shrijana Higher Secondary School, Pokhara and Ram Bahadur Soti of Manakamana Bahira School, Gorkha, claimed silver and bronze medal respectively in 100m sprint. Deepak Katuwal of Kendriya Bahira School and Raju Kumar Chaudhary of Birat Bahira School, Biratnagar, finished the 400m race on the second and third positions correspondingly.
Nepal´s schoolmate Sangita Basnet finished top in the girls´ 100m sprint of deaf section while Manisha Adhikari of Shrijana School, Pokhara, clinched gold in girls´ 400m sprint.
In the boys´ shot-put event of deaf section, Rupesh Chaudhary of Purwanchal Bahira School, Dharan, claimed the first position as Tila Devi Garbuja of Dhaulagiri Bahira School, Banglung, won gold medals in the same event of girls´ section.
Mahesh Shah of Nepal Rastriya Higher Secondary School won the first prize in boys´ 50m sprint of the blind section. Rita Thapa of Amar Singh Higher Secondary School, Pokhara, claimed the gold medal in the same event of girls´ section.
Among the visually impaired (partially blind), Sushant Nagarkoti of Namuna Machchhindra School claimed gold in boys´ 100m dash while Sabita Chaudhary of Panchodaya School, Dhangadi won the same event in girls´ section.
Meanwhile, Lali Lama, Pema Lama and Aakriti Paudel of Khagendra Navajeevan School, Kathmandu, finished girls´ 100m wheelchair race in the top three positions while their schoolmate Tej Bahadur Gharti claimed gold in the same event of boys´ section.
Likewise, Dhan Bahadur Tamang of Khagendra Navajeevan clinched gold in the boys´ 100m race with a crutch while Deepak Khatri of Kailali claimed the first position in the boys´ 100m race with both the crutches.
NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama inaugurated the tournament and vowed to make the event bigger and better in future.
