KATHMANDU, March 21: A section of Sabitra Bhandari's birthplace has been named ‘Samba Chowk’ to honor the national women's football team striker.
The area near Khudi Bridge in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-9 will be named after her.

According to Rural Municipality Chair Arjun Gurung, the executive meeting unanimously decided to honor Bhandari’s contribution. A hoarding board with her photo will be installed to officially mark the naming.
The location falls on the Annapurna trekking route and is a key passage to Manang, situated in the well-known Khudibazar area of Marsyangdi. The municipality believes the naming will help promote her birthplace.
Since 2014, the 27-year-old has played 53 matches for Nepal’s national team, scoring a record 57 goals.
Bhandari has played professional football in the Maldives, India, and Israel. She currently plays for the French club En Avant Guingamp.
