SINDHUPALCHOWK, March 21: Police have seized electronic cigarettes (vape) and some mobile phones worth approximately 2.1 million rupees from two cargo trucks heading to Kathmandu from China through the Tatopani border point. The items were seized from Bahrabise and Lamachanghu in Sindhupalchowk district.
During a regular inspection on Wednesday, the Area Police Office (APO), Bahrabise, and the Armed Police Force (APF) checkpoint in Lamachanghu found both large and small-sized vapes hidden in various compartments along with other materials from the trucks.

According to the chief of the APO, Inspector Sumesh Pandey, the trucks had completed customs procedures at the Tatopani border and were on their way to Kathmandu. The team from the APO apprehended the smugglers while inspecting the truck with registration number NA 6 Kha 5496 at the Khursanibari market in Bahrebise.
During the inspection, 740 vapes and three mobile phones were found hidden inside the vehicle. According to the officials at the APO, the seized goods are worth approximately Rs 2.22 million. Police have taken the driver into custody for further investigation.
Additionally, at the APF checkpoint in Balephi Municipality-1, Lamachanghu, officials seized 155 vapes, mobile phones, and cash amounting to Rs 352,000 from a truck with registration number NA 6 Kha 6647. The driver, Prabin Khatri, of Bhotekoshi Municipality-2, has been taken into custody for further investigation. The seized materials have been sent to the Revenue Investigation Office in Lalitpur.
