President, PM extend Democracy Day greetings

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has extended her best wishes on the occasion of 66th Democracy Day. The president has stressed on unity and harmony among the people on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma has extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers on the occasion of the 66th Democracy Day, the historic day when the people's struggle for democracy got a victory, ending the more than a century long autocratic Rana regime.

Extending emotional tributes to all those known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of building a democratic, just, independent and prosperous Nepal, the Prime Minister showed high respect to all those democratic fighters who fought for the sake of democratic norms and values, ideologies and principles.

The Democracy Day (Falgun 7) has a special importance in the country's political history and the country has entered to a federal democratic system, a result of people's long struggle and sacrifice for the establishment of democratic and prosperous society.

Stating that the new constitution has attempted its best to grant equal rights to all the citizens, the Prime Minister said the country was heading towards the path of socio-economic development with the implementation of the constitution.

Talks and negotiations are the best means of addressing any grievances regarding the constitution, he added. RSS
